Hot Cross Buns

These are soft and delicious buns (sweet roll bread) with raisins and spices. This is an easy to follow recipe that you can make at home for a home made bakery treat.

Ingredients:

Yeast mixture

200 ml (~3/4-1 cup) milk, warmed to about 110F 5 gm

2 1/2 tsp active dry yeast or instant yeast

1 tsp granulated sugar

Dough

90 gm (1/2 cup) packed brown sugar

56 gm (1/4 cup) unsalted butter, softened

4 gm (1 tsp) vanilla extract

2 large eggs

1 gm (1/2 tsp) cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice (ground)

4 gm (1 tsp) salt

450 gm (4 cups) bread flour (or all-purpose flour)

130 gm (1 cup) raisins

Cross Dough

58 gm (1/2 cup) bread-flour (or all-purpose flour)

120 ml (1/2 cup) water Icing

60 gm (1/2 cup) powdered sugar

45 ml (3 tbsp) orange juice or water
